What is Andis, Salix, and Ren's speech like? Do they have distinct accents? Or any other notable ways of speaking, like using particular phrases, slang, or terms of endearment? Bonus question: What do their voices sound like?
Thank you so much for the ask!!!
Andis has a pretty casual way of speaking I think. He's not particularly formal but he can be very verbose, I think he stumbles over words and has to backtrack ("Wri-- wrote-- WRITTEN, yes, that." or "And the... What's the word. The thingy.") relatively often. I don't think he has much of a notable accent. He snaps his fingers a lot when he's figuring out what in particular to say but generally it's brain -> speech with not a lot of filtration. Dunno what I'd call his voice but I know he's been on Magic T for several years. He's affectionate with his nicknames, he calls people love or friend very often. Honey is usually reserved for passive aggressiveness or concern, in equal measure.
Salix's speech is very posh and dignified, she was raised a lady of the court and it shows. Most of what she says is something she's previously thought about, I think she tends to rehearse conversations a lot. Every interaction is a game of chess and baby she's gonna win. She has a very sharp tone, the best way I'd describe her is acerbic. As she loosens up over the course of the adventure she uses more casual speech but a lot of her courtly mannerisms stay. I imagine her having a similar voice and accent to Morgana in BBC Merlin (played by Katie McGrath but I know she does a different accent for that specific role). Or perhaps Idina Menzel. She doesn't use pet names unless she means it.
Ren doesn't talk much, and when they do it's often formal and as concise as possible. One-word answers or short questions, always. Multiple full sentences, almost never. They're not excessively verbose and certainly didn't swallow the same thesaurus Gale did. They are a very good listener, though - they basically talk like the player character dialogue options. Before speaking they tend to pause and think about the best way to phrase things rather than spewing their consciousness into dialogue. They don't really use pet names often. I don't have a voice claim for them yet but I imagine they're an alto.
You didn't ask about Monty (because he didn't exist at the time of sending the ask lmao) but I'm putting him here anyway-- he talks like a cowboy. He has a recognizably American Southern accent, though it's not super strong. Sugar is his go-to pet name for most people, but when he really means it it's angel or love. His speech kind of feels like he's always in motion, if that makes sense? Like a bit out of breath, a bit flippant, a bit like he's holding his words in the back of his throat. He's kind of a whore also. (e.g. "Well sure, sugar, if you're interested", "Ah, well, ain't that a shame.") If I HAD to voice claim him it would be Eoin Macken probably, something smooth and drawling. Fittingly draconic.

In my 382th review I take a look at La Brea 1x01 "Pilot"
Spoilers Below
I think the biggest thing that I noticed about La Brea from it's opening episode is that they really shouldn't have shouted out Lost in this show. The inspiration was clear from the very start of the show, but mentioning Lost ended up making it feel a little too cute for it's own good, especially since this is a show that is taking itself completely seriously. If there was a way for me to describe La Brea it would be close but not quite.
Starting from the opening of the show, where they do this big destruction set piece, there are issues. This is supposed to not only be a spectacle, but also somewhat horrifying, working in that balance and not quite finding it. Mostly as this scene can't quite carry the gravitas that the creators are trying to imbue it with. That not to say that the scene is a complete failure. On a functional front, it does all the things that an opening scene needs to, sets up characters, hooks and stakes. Alongside that, some of the emotional beats, especially the one between Eve (played by Natalie Zea from The Following and Justified) and Izzy (played by newcomer Zyra Gorecki), do work. All that being said, the scene as a whole was missing the main thing that made the openings scene of Lost, and similar scenes of large scale destruction work, tension.
That is a problem with the show as a whole, the scenes where the camerawork and performances needs to instill tension in the viewer don't do that well enough. This is an issue that plagues the later half of the episode where there is a supposed ticking clock, but the characters, for the most part, don't portray that sense of urgency to the viewers in a believable way. The only character that seems to be able to convey that ticking clock well is Riley (played by newcomer Veronica St. Clair).
I find it real interesting that the younger characters are the ones that work the best in this episode, as Riley, Izzy, Josh (played by newcomer Jack Martin) and Scott (played by Rohan Mirchandaney from Hotel Mubai and Mystery Road) are the stand out characters from this opening episode. That being said, they aren't the focus of the show, which is around the parents, Eve, Sam (played by Jon Seda of the extended Chicago TV Universe) and Gavin (played by Eoin Macken from Merlin and Resident Evil: The Final Chapter). These actors are serving performances that leave me unengaged with their plights, and in a way, at times, feels like they are actively pushing some of the more interesting characters to the sidelines. That isn't the best look for an opening episode.
Now, all of this being said, this is only the first episode, and it has given the show as a whole some foundations that can be worked from. A pilot is rarely ever indicative of the full show, and the adaptations that they make as they head into the next couple episodes will be so much more important to the whole of the show than the issues that this episode might have. There is enough good in this opening showing that I am hopeful they can adapt towards something more compelling than the final product that they put out. 6/10

TILL DEATH - Review
DISTRIBUTOR: Screen Media
SYNOPSIS: Emma is stuck in a stale marriage to Mark, having met when he represented her in a criminal case. She is surprised when he whisks her away to their secluded lake house for a romantic evening on their 10th anniversary. In the morning everything changes when Emma finds herself trapped and isolated in the dead of winter, the target of a plan that gets more sinister at every turn.
REVIEW: TILL DEATH, on its surface, is reminiscent of the film “Gerald’s Game,” which was based on the Stephen King novel. The adaptation of the novel to the screen was missing much of the charisma, charm, and character insight found in the novel. Unlike being left handcuffed to the bed after her husband has a heart attack, Emma is left chained to her dead husband and what she is dealing with is far more sinister than simple ghosts from her past.
Screenwriter Jason Carvey does an excellent job of creating a character study of a woman caught in a vortex of her husband’s design. Emma met her husband, who represented her, when she was a victim of a violent crime. Over the past decade the pair have grown distant, yet Emma still has feelings for him and ends an affair. Emma begins to feel better about their marriage as they share a pleasant and romantic 10th anniversary celebration that culminates with a special evening at their secluded lake house. The following morning the nightmare begins to unfold when Emma wakes and her husband commits suicide. Emma finds herself now chained to his corpse. Carvey slowly peels off the layers and we get to see just how meticulous her husband was in planning this all out and the elements he has set in motion. Much like King’s story the action is centered all in this one location, and much like Jessie in his novel Emma has an awakening and must fight for her survival. Emma is more of a survivalist and has to deal with not just obstacles, but additional villains and the environment.
Director S.K. Dale does an outstanding job of keeping the action moving as he maintains a heightened level of suspense. He captures some compelling performances that feel organic and true to character. There are some seamless edits and camera work that allows the story to flow and keep the viewer engaged. The filmmakers do an amazing job of blending what has to be sets and locations. The outdoor sequences are amazing for all that the action entails.
Walter Mair’s original score is amazing. The movie begins with very little music and builds as the tension and drama builds. It nicely accentuates the films action sequences and, while you often hardly notice it in the background, it simply adds to visuals and the character’s emotional state.
TILL DEATH is clearly a vehicle for actress Megan Fox. Most of my memories are from her work in “The Transformer” films, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” reboot, and her TV work such as “New Girl.” Her work here is on a different level than anything I can previously recall. It is intense, ground, and feels very organic. She has some action sequences that are as tight as anything Milla Jovovich or Kate Beckinsale have achieved. For all the hustle and muscle, she comes across as a thinking heroine. She has a couple of snarky lines but they don’t come across as total throwaway lines just to get a reaction. It’s a solid, layered performance that makes for an engaging view.
The rest of the cast is good, but the limelight is on Megan. Eoin Macken plays her husband and is only in the first act, but still gives the impression of a tormented soul that is tormented by hidden demons. Callan Mulvey, a veteran TV actor with several superhero film credits, does an excellent job as the villain possessed by his past and killing for a way out.
S.K. Dale’s TILL DEATH, from the screenplay by Jason Carvey, is a fresh take on a woman in peril story. Solid directing, major studio worthy production values, and a stellar performance by actress Megan Fox make for a solid view. There are some nice twists and turns, and the fact that Emma is a character that problem solves as well as knows how to fight adds a excellent level of complexity to the narrative.
CAST: Megan Fox, Callan Mulvey, Eoin Macken, Aml Ameen and Jack Roth. CREW: Director - S.K. Dale; Screenplay - Jason Carvey; Producers - Jeffrey Greenstein, David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, Yariv Lerner, Tanner Mobley, and Les Weldon; Cinematographer - Jamie Cairney; Score - Walter Mair; Editors - Alex Fenn and Sylvie Landra; Production Designers - Nikola Bercek and Orlin Grozdanov; Costume Designer - Irina Kotcheva; Special Effects Supervisor - Orlin Budinov; Visual Effects - Worldwide FX. Do you have certain fancasts for the lotr characters (asking because of your amazing Arwen gifset)?
Yes, I do! Although I do like PJ’s movies, and some casting decisions worked for me, and some didn't. All hobbits, Legolas, and Thranduil were almost perfect. But, for example, I like Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn, but I also think that his Aragorn is closer to Thorongil than Elessar. He is too young and insecure for Aragorn I imagined reading the books.
So far I (a known Dúnedain stan, who literally can’t choose between Arnor and Gondor, because they all are the best, most awesome humans) have:
Deva Cassel as Arwen from the gifset you mentioned. She is so young, graceful, and gorgeous! And yes, Arwen is the Queen of Dúnedain, she should be here.
Mads Mikkelsen in Michael Kohlhaas as LOTR Aragorn. He is supposed to look like he is in his late forties, I think. Also, Aragorn's greying hair was mentioned in the books too.
Richard Armitage in Robin Hood as Halbarad. This faceclaim was pretty much accepted by the entire fandom long ago.
Oscar Isaac in Agora looks like Faramir to me. In this movie, his character wears Greek clothes and Byzantine Gondor is a hill I would die on.
But I really need Boromir fancast.
I don't have any ideas about faceclaim for older Denethor either. I have some ideas about younger Denethor and Aragorn (maybe I'll make a gifset soon? I'm really into this criminally underrated ship, you know).
Adelaide Kane in Reign as Finduilas of Dol Amroth. She looks so beautiful, sublime, and gentle, and just perfect for this type of character in this TV show.
Bruna Marquezine as Lothíriel of Dol Amroth. I've seen someone's edit with her as Lyanna Stark once, and since then I was absolutely certain that she is perfect for one of the Dúnedain.
Luke Roberts (who played Arthur Dayne) as Prince Imrahil. I've seen this done a lot, and I like it? He looks like someone I would trust with anything in heartbeat.
Marina Moschen as (young) Gilraen. I've seen pics with her holding a bow, and it is very Ranger-y.
As for non-Dúnedain, I was thinking about:
Imogen Poots in Centurion as Éowyn of Rohan. I adore Miranda Otto, and the "I am no man" scene is iconic, but I feel like PJ aged Éowyn up a bit in the movies (maybe it's just me, idk). She is supposed to be just 23, and Imogen Poots looks young and tough at the same time.
No Éomer yet, only some ideas. Karl Urban was near perfect, but a bit older than I pictured him in the books.
Also, Théodred. If his cousins were aged up in the movies, he was certainly aged down, because in canon he is almost 20 years older than them. Still no ideas, sadly.
Théoden is perfect as he is.
Also, Bard! Luke Evans is amazing and totally on point.
If I'll go into Silm territory, then:
I generally go with models for the Elves, and I change my Elvish fancasts very often.
But Katie McGrath in Merlin as Lúthien, because have you seen her in the blue dress in this TV show???
Also, Eoin Macken as Beren. I imagine him to be a very good-looking and romantic guy (in the lone guerilla fighter but actually a real Disney prince way), so...
I've accidentally seen Aneurin Barnard and Freya Mavor together in White Queen and instantly went "wow, Túrin and Nienor", so they have been my fancast ever since.
Eva Green or Lena Heady as Morwen, they both are so stern and beautiful. But I still have no idea how I picture Húrin, Huor, Rian, and Tuor.
Also, we've talked about Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Aldarion once.
Wow, it ended up very long. And I love Dúnedain, as you can tell.

I’m really into bahama mamas when I can get my hands on them tbh but just really any of those mixed drinks that taste like juice? that’s what I’d grab if I was out drinking. and summer bbqs and things like that I’ll always take those sugary fruity drinks like smirnoff’s or mikes hard lemonades or seagrams. that sweet stuff!!!! number of blankets you sleep with: one comforter in the fall/winter, a sheet in the summer. I run so hot I can’t sleep with any more than that. average sleep hours: hmm... technically my body feels it’s best when I manage to consecutively get 9 - 10 every night but realistically I probably give it anywhere from 5 - 7. random fact: hmm about me or just in general? if in general - sometimes wild stallions will trail bands (herds of wild mares with their one stallion) for YEARS looking for their “in” to try and steal one of the mares away or become strong enough to beat the band stallion in a fight to take all his mares from him. on one range in nevada there’s been records showing a bachelor stallion who has been trailing a herd and occasionally picking fights/trying to steal the mares for the past three years. also on rare occasions sometimes other stallions will act as a “second in command” of sorts to the band stallion, helping him protect the herd from other stallions and predators. however, while the stallions are there for protection from predators, etc. it’s actually one lead mare in the herd who’s the entire boss of the herd and decides EVERYTHING. she picks where the herd migrates to, which mares are even ALLOWED in the herd (if a stallion fights and brings a mare back but the lead mare doesn’t like her she’ll drive her away from the herd and fight the band stallion on it until that mare is gone) and is always seen at the front of the herd when they’re traveling. she has a lot of very important roles for the entire dynamic of the herd. the stallion is just the muscle, but SHE’S the brains and the heart of the family. if you meant a random fact about ME uhhh... I know too much about wild horses???? asjfdjhfklg
i’m tagging whoever wants to fill this out. seriously. do it. tag me. you like this and wanna talk about yourself? fill this out and TAG ME. I want to read about you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Getting to know me
I was tagged by @mummybear and @crashdevlin and @wingedcatninja and I’m gonna try to spit some of this out before I head to bed. Love you girls!
Not gonna tag anyone because I’m a bitch that way. Tag yourself, dudes!
Nickname: So many...from start to current: Mickey, Misha, Mishy, SheDragon (SheD for short), Fairy Godmother (to my godkids), and @manawhaat calls me Saint Michelle (and she’s my cupcake).
Real Name: Michelle (I also answer to “Mrs.....????” which is how Mrs. Whozeewhatsis became a thing, and Elaine, which is a long story.)
Zodiac: Sun in Sagittarius, Moon in Libra, Year of the Tiger. (I had to look most of that up, and the Libra moon meaning thing had a startling accuracy to it.)
Favorite musicians/bands: Too many. Let’s just list the obvious: everyone remotely related to SPN, plus Ed Sheeran, Sara Bareilles, and more.
Favorite sports teams: ????? Sports??? What is this “sports” you speak of? *yells in the background where her mother and BFF are watching football (Go, Eagles!)
Other blogs:
@oxfordcommalover - Where I was putting my fanfiction and writing stuff until I decided to let my freak flag fly and keep it all here. I’ve got some post over there that I still reference, though, so I haven’t ditched it.
@mrswhozeewhatsiswrites - My library blog, or masterlist blog for my writing.
@jaredquestions @jensenquestions @mishaquestions - Blogs I created because everyone wanted them, but then they never took off. They are related to the Twitter handles I created, too.
@spnfanficpond I’m an admin there, trying to do whatever I can to encourage other writers!
Do I get asks: Not too often. Sometimes. I’d love to get more!
How many blogs do I follow: 384 (I just culled some inactive blogs.)
Tumblr crushes: We would be here all day and I would break the post. Y’all know I love you. This is what xkit says, though:
peridottea91
jensensjaredsandmishaslover
waywardjoy
wingedcatninja
deanwanddamons
wi-deangirl77
negans-lucille-tblr
kittensfiction
notnaturalanahi
(I just read a long series by peridottea91, which is why she’s #1. I really expected Rhi and Bee to be closer to the top since they write so much and I read so much of what they write!)
Lucky numbers: Just one, and it’s 9.
What am I wearing: Jammies. If I’m at home, I’m wearing jammies.
Dream vacation: Have a huge RV that probably qualifies as glamping and just drive all around the country visiting friends and family and seeing stuff. It would take about a year. I’d spend a week or four in NOLA in the winter, and the same in New England in the summer. We’d hit Austin, for sure, too. I’d need a driver to take care of the RV, and a friend to go with me to have fun. To do this, I’d be independently wealthy, so we’re also gonna stop at every SPN con. After that vacation is done, then I’d look into going overseas and hitting up SPN cons over there, and some other stuff like visiting my husband’s family in Sweden and stuff.
Favorite food: It changes and I go through phases of craving things, but the one thing I will always want, and I will never turn down, no matter what, is pie.
Drink of choice: I drink a lot of water because it’s got no calories and quenches thirst. I used to be a Mt. Dew junkie. Alcoholic? Anything sweet, really. I recently had a Peach Moscato that was a little tingly on the tongue and I LOVED IT. Sadly, it kept me up at night. I don’t understand that.
Instruments: I’m assuming we’re talking musical and not, like, surgical? I used to play piano. Badly. I used to sing. Not so badly. Now it’s all Caraoke and shower concerts.
Languages: I speak a handful of words in Swedish, Spanish, and German. Enough that I might be able to find a bathroom and count to ten. Otherwise, it’s all English, baby!
Celebrity crushes: Like y’all don’t know this already because you follow me? I don’t think I’ve hidden any. Ones that might not show up on this blog as often: Nathan Fillion, NPH, John Barrowman, David Tennant, Eoin Macken....and then @manawhaat dragged me into Henry Cavill and @littlegreenplasticsoldier keeps shoving me into the Chris Hemsworth dumpster, but I know very little about them or their lives outside what I’ve seen them in. Oh, and I spent all of Wonder Woman thinking Gal Gadot is amazing and questioning my lack of interest in kissing women.
Random facts: I have the stuff to do all kinds of crafty projects (scrapbooking, jewelry-making, knitting, embroidery, etc etc etc), and keep buying more, but haven’t organized it or really done much with it for several years (and several moves), so I have ALL THIS STUFF to do ALL THIS COOL SHIT, but it’s all packed away and I can’t find any of it and I spend all my time on Tumblr doing posts like these. My goal in life is eventually be completely unpacked in my house, and to figure out how to balance my time so I get to do more things like photography and writing and crafting and DIY house stuff and less time staring at piles of boxes and feeling overwhelmed. Oh, and I absolutely LOVE putting together furniture, like from IKEA or wherever. Like, that shit RELAXES me.

Merlin 3x08 “The Eye of the Phoenix” Highlights:
You know that when the episode starts with shirtless Arthur, you’re in for a good time
Oh look, his boyfriend and girlfriend are spying on him
Merlin: “He has to decide upon a quest.” – Gwen: “Crouching on his knees all night is going to help?” (Oh, Gwen, you have no idea how much thinking he does on his knees if the fanfiction is to be believed)
Uther low-key being like “Are you suuuuure you don’t want to pick something easier, kid?” and Arthur being like “No. This fits my ‘I have no regard for my own safety’ aesthetic.”
Merlin is a nervous eater and Gaius seems to take great joy in pointing it out every time it happens
Merlin with hiccups is adorable. Arthur being super annoyed at the hiccups is even more adorable
Morgause, the master of disguise and all kinds of shady shit, looking somehow like both the before and after pictures from an anti-wrinkle cream advert
I feel like I say this most episodes, but Katie McGrath and Angel Coulbey are honestly some of the most beautiful women in the world and we are blessed to have so much of them in this show
Arthur’s bracelet setting off Merlin’s magical heebie-jeebies and his misgivings doubling when he hears that it was Morgana that gave it to him
The further breakdown of Gwen and Morgana’s relationship is so tragic. Gwen looks so hurt when Morgana yells at her to get out
Merlin’s first instinct when he hears that he needs to have help on his quest is to find Gwaine and honestly? Valid
Gwaine’s smile when he sees Merlin and the way he tries to play it off casually like he isn’t thrilled that Merlin came looking for him specially
(Y’all, Gwaine is in love with Merlin and you can’t convince me otherwise)
The whole sequence where the two of them run away from the guys chasing Gwaine is just delightful
Gwaine’s hair, man. Just Gwaine’s hair
Ughghgh Gwaine is just so bouncy and joyful every time he gets to hang out with Merlin and I love it
WARWICK DAVIS
The whole courage/strength/magic is a great way to classify your OT3s. I hope it catches on
LISTEN, not to be Merwaine on main, but holy shit is there a lot of flirty banter between the two of them this episode
Morgana being the absolute worst kind of Manipulative bitch playing with Gwen’s emotions like that
GWEN SEEING MORGANA DOING MAGIC FOR THE FIRST TIME
This eye of the phoenix thing is properly terrifying
Gwaine gesturing that he’ll go scout ahead, and that Merlin should stay put. Merlin immediately walking off
Merlin: “Why do you want to do this?” – Gwaine: “Same reason as you. Help a friend.” – Merlin: “Oh. Arthur’s lucky to have us.” – Gwaine: (with a small smile) “Not Arthur.” (THEN A NICE LONG BIT OF SILENT EYE CONTACT) – Merlin: “I’d do the same for you.” – Gwaine: “Yeah, I hope so. You’re the only friend I’ve got.” – Merlin: (teasing) “I’m not surprised.”
Listen y’all, their relationship is so sweet and pure. I love them so much.
Arthur all floppy and weakened by the phoenix eye bracelet is literally just me trying to get up in the morning
Was Eoin Macken contractually obligated to have the top of his shirt undone and his hair blowing in the breeze most scenes? Because if so that was a good decision by the show runners
Gwaine being all like “they’re creatures of magic so be careful” to Merlin about the wyverns even though Merlin’s kind of their dad now
The wyverns reacting to Merlin’s scolding the exact way my dog does when I tell him off
Arthur rolling his eyes when he realises Merlin brought Gwaine and Gwaine grimacing like he’s wondering why they’re even bothering to help Arthur in the first place
Both of Merlin’s boyfriends being very concerned when they get separated from him
The “princess” that launched a thousand fanfic interactions between Gwaine and Arthur
I will never stop being salty about how the Avalon lake water was used later in the series, but I’ll rant about that when I get there
This whole scene between Merlin and the Fisher King is really wonderful and the acting is amazing

Smokey brand Movie Reviews: Yinzer
One of my favorite actresses active today is Megan Fox. That chick is really good at her job, when she’s given jobs. She was peak way back in the late Aughts but fell off completely because she spoke out about the way she was being treated in her film. Fox is a f*cking gorgeous, easily one of the most beautiful women in the world. That sh*t basically pigeon-held her to love interests or sexy other woman. Even when she’s the best character in a franchise (Transformers) or stealing every scene in a female-centric, coming of age, horror story (Jennifer’s Body), no one cared. All they saw as Megan the Beauty, not Megan the talent. That sh*t sucks. She disappeared for a while, really only showing up in bit parts she absolutely killed, and in those ridiculous TMNT flocks from a while ago. Megan Fox deserves better and she might have got it with Till Death. I’ve heard great things about this bad boy and finally get to check it out. IS it another Jennifer’s Body or am i going to be left wanting like every Transformers flick after the first one? Let’s see!
The Good
This movie is gorgeous! I definitely didn’t expect it to look this good. A lot of that has to do with the location, this thing was shot in Bulgaria, but the cinematography is legitimately gorgeous.
Seriously, this movie is definitely punching above it’s weight class. It’s very obviously a low budget, independent, effort but this thing looks like a well polished major studio effort. A lot of that has to do with the direction of S.K. Dale. This dude knows exactly what he’s doing. Seriously, the way he instills an almost bleak and aggressive tension throughout this flick is something of merit. It’s not quite The Strangers but it definitely gives that first Purge flick a run for r it’s money.
Megan Fox is exceptional in this thing. I’ve been a fan of hers since way back in those early Transformers days and was staunch supporter of Jennifer’s Body long before it was cool. I knew she had the potential to be great in the industry but no one saw past the fact that she is f*cking stunning. In a lot of ways, she’s our Marilyn Monroe. However, in Emma, Fox gets to really show her stuff. This character, who has some real emotional meat to her, has been saddled with some very Die Hard-esque circumstances and that gives Fox fertile ground to perform. Her Emma is smart, resourceful, and incredibly strong without losing a hint of femininity. Neckbeards and Blue Hairs need not reeee in misplaced outrage because this character, and the way Fox brings her to life, is exactly how you execute the “Strong Woman” trope that so many fail to understand.
While I'm on the cast, the supporting is a mixed bag. The two love interests, Eoin Macken a Mark and Ami Ameen as Tom, are so-so but they don’t get a great deal of screen time to be anything less that plot fodder. It’s funny that two dudes get refrigerator’d in service to the development of the female character. I kind of love that. The two antagonists, however, are excellent. Callen Mulvey as Bobby Ray is f*cking horrifying while the hesitant Jimmy, played by Jack Roth, was arguably the best character in the movie, after Fox’s Emma.
I just have to mention the camerawork once more. I know I've gushed about how beautifully this film is but, seriously, the camera work on display here is f*cking exquisite. This is Dale’s very first major production and it feels like he’s been behind the camera for decades.
The writing is really sharp as well. It can be a little contrived at times, a little hokey, but for the most part, it’s very clever. This film is at it’s best when it’s hitting you with foreshadowing and double entendre. I was surprised by how clever this thing was at times.
I have to say, with a little over an hour and a half runt time, this thing doesn’t overstay it’s welcome. Till Death gets you into it’s narrative, guides you briskly through the plot, and leaves you exhausted at the end, all in what seems like no time at all. Seriously, before i knew it, the thing was over. There is next to no fat on this movie and that’s exceedingly rare nowadays.
The Bad
The way Emma reacts to trauma can be called into question or, at least, I've heard others question it. As a cat who definitely suffers from some form of PTSD, the way she so nonchalantly approached everything made sense to me. I can see how someone who has never experienced the worst of humanity can misconstrue this as and kind of have it take them out of the narrative a little bit. It didn’t for me because i know people process things differently and Emma was already a fighter before she was a survivor so this situation, as grim as it may be, was just par for the course.
This thing is definitely low budget and you feel it at times. It’s not a huge problem but, occasionally, the constraints of the budget show in a shortened cut or the overall scale of the set. It’s fine but if you’re used to seeing MCU films of big budget Zack Snyder set pieces, you should look elsewhere. The strength of this film lies in Fox’s performance, the beauty of the location, and Dale’s direction. Spectacle seekers need not apply.
The Verdict
I really, really, liked this movie. Till Death was a great watch and a surprising apt thriller. It can drag in some places, sure, but it has one of the he best performances I've ever seen from Megan Fox. Her Emma is, for sure, the standout of this film and worth the price of admission on it’s own but there is just so much here to like. Great direction, brilliant use of tone, potent atmosphere, beautifully shot, smartly written; This thing is incredibly well put together and doesn’t falter in many ways. It’s not Panic Room, there’s too much John McClane in Emma for that, but it’s still a really rewarding experience. I’ve heard that this is the Megan Fox renaissance and if she keeps getting meaty roles like this the future of her career looks incredible. Till Death is just a first step toward a rather titillating future.

ALL THE ODD NUMBERS 8D
munday questions | accepting ( only even numbers now apparently ) | @justmilah
mun voice: this is why we can’t have nice things.
UNDER THE CUT BECAUSE THIS IS LONG?!
1. If you had to change yourcharacter’s FC for one day, who would you pick?
I use an alt fc for him already for my Trek verse, and that’s Eoin Macken, so that would be my choice.
3. What’s something you like abouthow you write?
How to make this not pretentious–um, so I’m a literature student in college right now, so my writing background is formal papers, like a LOT of formal papers. So I’m pretty happy with my syntax and recently I’ve been buffing up on my vocab because I’m a word nerd so I’m also pretty pleased with my diction right now.
5. What’s something about yourcharacter that you’d like if you had to spend time with them?
I like that he’s very loyal–that he forms very deep and very lasting connections quickly even if he doesn’t show them. Like if he meets you and decides he likes you, he will probably risk his life for you even if you just met that day.
7. What’s a negative thing aboutyour character that you enjoy writing?
I enjoy writing his pride. It gets in the way so often and its interesting to see how it rears its head in even the strangest of interactions. More often than not, it breaks him.
9. What’s a difference you havewith your character?
Killian is flirtatious and bold as a defense mechanism, I am absolutely not.
11. Do you think you’ve gottenbetter at writing anything or any type of thing or situation since you startedwriting this character (or roleplaying in general)?
I’m getting better at trying new styles. I experimented with a new style for my first Milah thread, actually, and I’m really proud of how it went. It challenges me to think inside his head rather than adjacent to it.
13. Do you write fiction ever otherthan rping?
Ah, so yes and no. Yes in that I fart around in a notebook fairly regularly, small vignettes and the like, I’ve written short stories for lit mags on campus too and gotten some published that way. But, I come from a family of writers, so I don’t really write like they do and I don’t really want to–and that’s the no part.
15. Do you like or dislike OC/Canoncharacter interactions in principle?
I’m very neutral to them.
17. What’s something you dislikeabout rping a canon character?
With Killian (and OUAT especially) there is a lot to consider when writing him. The canon changes and takes new very unexpected paths often and that’s often challenging to incorporate into an established hc.
19. What’s something you dislikeabout rping an original character?
Not enough to work with. I like to have a box or a frame to start with, and when I don’t I feel like I’m a bad copy of a canon character or I’m not developed enough.
21. Do you think about your threadsand your character when you aren’t roleplaying? How and for how long onaverage?
Gee, yeah. Um, maybe a total of like 2 hours each day–like spread out, it’s like little things that pop into my head where I’m like “this would be so neat for this thread!”
23. What’s your take on AUs?
All of them. I am an AU trashcan. Give me your tired, your poor…The wretched refuse of your teeming shore– Give me ALL THE AU because I will accept you with wide and open arms.
25. What’s your least favorite AU?
It’s not really AU–but Neverland. I really don’t like writing Neverland.
27. What’s a ship you would neverrp? For what reason?
HookFire - that’s, like, incest, y’all! Pan/Hook - shocker, but the Killian mun isn’t a big Pan fan (love the Pan & Hook interactions though, they’re fun).
29. What do you dislike aboutroleplaying angst?
oh shit. nothing.
31. What do you dislike aboutroleplaying fluff?
I feel like there’s no plot sometimes? But that’s NOT often, I’ve been really lucky and blessed with my fluff rp partners.
33. What do you dislike aboutroleplaying ships/romance?
There’s not enough external plot. I mean in real relationships there needs to be a balance in attention between romance and life and I feel like ship threads occasionally tread into being solely about the ship, and that’s not always interesting.
35. Do you ever read other people’sNSFW rp threads? (be honest!)
De temps en temps, mais seulement des threads spécifiques >.>
37. If you do read threads youaren’t in, do you usually let the other authors know, or keep it under yourhat?
Sure! There are lots of brilliant writers on my dash and I poke in from time to time to see what’s a foot. Nah, I usually don’t say anything.
39. Do you like to title threads ornot?
Yes. (see my many different star trek thread titles for details)
41. Do you like to make openstarters?
I like to make them, I don’t often have the time to post them.
43. Do you usually preferchat/short replies, or long/para/novella replies?
Well, seeing as I somehow end up with novella length replies no matter how hard I try to make them short, I guess I prefer those.
45. What’s your least favoritething about rping a chat/short style thread?
I can’t keep my replies short. They lack sufficient time for exposition. They remind me of text conversations and if you ever text with me you’d know how much I hate those. There’s so much potential in the negative space–the silence–if you will, that you can’t get with short replies.
47. What’s your least favoritething about rping a long/para/novella style thread?
I make them too long. I just keep going.
49. Do you roleplay with peoplewhose characters aren’t from the same dimentional universe as yours? (Forexample, if your character is drawn or anime, will you RP with people who useactor face claims/play-bys?)
Yep!
51. What’s something you dislikeabout FCs/Play-Bys?
There is only so much you can capture in an icon, and often I want to convey something that can’t be.
53. What’s a trope or plot you’llnever get sick of roleplaying?
Star Trek AU, Fencing AU, Killian as the disillusioned Poetry Professor AU (and plenty more)
55. What do you like to do as youreply to threads? Listen to music? Have TV on? Complete silence? Dark room?etc.
Music if I’m feeling it or can with my surroundings. Not always. I write replies basically anywhere, though. At home, at work, in class, at practice. You name it, I’ve probably written a thread there.
57. What was your first roleplaycharacter?
This ole pirate right here!
59. What/Who is a character youthink you would like to roleplay? What’s currently stopping you fromroleplaying them?
Mulder from the X Files - time. Spock from Star Trek - I’m afraid I won’t do him justice. T.C. Callahan from The Night Shift - there is like no fandom? for this show? Jess Mariano from Gilmore Girls - time.

This will assure that the swift movie stock is actually certainly not visiting have as clear as a picture as sluggish film sell would certainly, but this may possess an extra motion picture and also artistically artistic taste of you particular function. One more model which gets married to sound as well as vibration in one system is actually the Sonic Boom SBH400ss Sweetheart Loud And Moving Alarm-- shaped like a pink soul, this is actually a kid pleasant unit that is stuffed along with both a 12 volt bed shaker and pulsating beaming sharp illuminations. Gretchen Mol (Boardwalk Realm) stars as Dr. Agatha Matheson, together with Eoin Macken (The Third Shift) as Karl D'Branin, David Ajala (Angry & prompt 6) as Roy Eris, Sam Strike (EastEnders) as Thale, Maya Eshet (Teenager Wolf) as Lommie, Angus Sampson (Fargo) as Rowan, Jodie Turner-Smith (The Last Ship) as Melantha Jhirl as well as Brían F. kind of tagged by @trash-god but also not really I sort of stole it whoops tagging: whoever wants to do this!
name: ashley star sign: sagittarius height: 5′2
put your music on shuffle. what are the first 6 songs that popped up? secrets - tribe society papaoutai - stromae whatever it takes - imagine dragons hellfire - barns courtney be bold like elijah - iron tom smut - tom lehrer
grab the book nearest to you and turn to page 23. what’s line 17? It had once been a man; he still had the blurred shape of one, but his skin was fish-belly gray-green, and he limped because most of one arm and his side had been chewed away.
ever had a poem or song written about you? okay so I have a distinct memory of a boyfriend in my freshman year of highschool singing me a song he wrote for me while I sat in the bathroom with the door locked (only place to get privacy) but I can’t remember the song to save the life of me. must not have been good lmfao
when was the last time you played air guitar uh... I feel like it was last weekend at my birthday party tbh.
who is your celebrity crush you mean who isn’t my celebrity crush? lmfao jk but for reals... tom hiddleston, kat dennings, jenna louise coleman, colin o’donoghue, eoin macken, zach mcgowan... I don’t know there’s probably more if I’m being real.
what’s a sound you hate? how about love? ohh. hm. okay so my dog (charles) has this rubbery hard bone that feels good for him to chew it, but I absolutely freaking hate the way it sounds when he chews it, it makes my teeth clench even thinking about it. and he likes to lay by me while he chews on his toys and every time he lays down with the devil bone (that’s what I call it) I cry a little inside.
as cheesy as it sounds, I love the sound of laughter at a family or friend gathering. nothing makes me warmer than being in a room filled with the people I love and being surrounded by them laughing and enjoying each other’s company.
do you drive? if so, have you ever crashed? I do drive and I’ve never crashed (knock on wood). I’ve had someone rear-end me at a red light, but they did it so softly it didn’t cause any damage.
last book you read I can’t remember the last time I actually sat down and finished a book. I’ve been working on the same ten for like a year now and yet I keep buying new books someone stop me
do you like the smell of petrol no! my mom and my little brother love it and I can’t freaking stand it.
what was the last movie you saw so I watched this indie film last night called the wedding planner simply because eoin macken was in it and holy fuck every part except for his bits were just awful. the ladies acting missed the mark, at one point one girl looked into the camera as she said her line, one of the guys was supposed to have a tattoo sleeve but instead of taking the time to draw them on they gave him one of those fake tattoo sleeves to wear and it was so fucking obvious. i feel like all their money must have gone into hiring eoin lmfao. but his parts were amazing and melted my heart <3
what’s the worst injury you’ve ever had? huh... right now I’m dealing with chronic plantar fasciitis in both my feet and that hurts like shiiiit (basically the little tendon in the bottom of my foot has a ton of tiny tears in it that are continually tearing). it sucks because I can’t go on long walks without it flaring up and then I’m incapacitated for an entire day ;-; I need to get the money to buy shoes made specifically for it but... well, one day.
do you have any obsessions right now? haha always my friend. always.
do you tend to hold grudges against anyone who’s done you wrong? kind of. I don’t forget when someone has wronged me, it always hangs in the back of my head like a defense mechanism - ready for them to hurt me again, I guess. but I don’t let it hang over a relationship unless they’ve REALLY fucked me over. if it’s really bad, I drop them out of my life.
in a relationship? single but talking to someone
